Prime joints with Butylseal Primer.
Apply Butylseal tape to primed joints ensuring even application and good adhesion.
Once joints are finished, ensure the cement board is reasonably clean of dust and other contaminants.
Using a roller, apply Flexi Wall 'n Floor™ Sealer Primer, in one direction first, followed by a second coat, 90 degrees to the first. Wait for the first coat to be touch dry before applying the second coat.
Should the board require waterproofing use the Flexi-Seal Licensed Waterproofing System. Click here for recommendations and your nearest applicator
Once the joints are taped and the board is primed and sealed, adhesion can commence.
Determine the weight of stone, brick slips, or tiles per square metre, and follow the recommended guidelines set out in the cement board manufacturer's specification.
Ensure the stone, brickslips (from cutting), and tiles, as well as the substrate are dust free. It may be necessary to wipe the surfaces clean with a damp cloth or sponge prior to applying the adhesive.
Always commence adhesion of stone, brick slips or tiles from a solid foundation, angle fixing or lintel.
Use Flexi Wall 'n Floor Masonry, or Flex Wall 'n Floor General Purpose 2 Part, to adhere stone, brick slips or tiles to walls.
Flexi Wall 'n Floor Masonry - Take 2 litres by volume of cement, and mix slowly with a mechanical mixer into 10 litres of Flexi Wall 'n Floor Masonry.
Flexi Wall 'n Floor 2 Part - Mechanically mix Flexi Wall 'n Floor General Purpose2 Part Powder into Flexi Wall 'n Floor 2 Part liquid without water addition until the desired consistency is achieved.
In both cases always maintain a good WET TACK.
Stone, brick slips or tiles should be 100% adhered with no evidence of notched trowel lines or voids that can hold water.
Spot adhesion is not acceptable
Control joints should be strategically placed. Control joints in substrates should be carried through. Fill joints and wall / wall and wall / floor junctions with a appropriate silicone.
Mortaring of Stone or Brick Slip Facings
Use Flexco (NZ) Ltd "Megamortar" and "Megamix" additive as per instructions. Use a suitable pointing tool to get a smooth finish.
Tile Grouting
