Recommendations - Adhesion of Concrete or Clay Cobblestones or Pavers to Concrete

"Flexi Wall 'n Floor 2 Part High Performance Adhesive" is suitable to adhere concrete, clay or stone, cobblestones and pavers to concrete substrates where the surface is likely to carry pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

For pedestrian areas

Using "Flexi Wall 'n Floor 2 Part High Performance Adhesive".
Mix one part Liquid with half a part clean water.
Add to the mixed emulsion 2 parts "Flexi Wall 'n Floor 2 Part High Performance Powder".

For vehicular traffic

Mix the high performance powder direct into the liquid without water addition.
This will give increased shear modulus of elasticity and no contribution to efflorescence.
This will meet the ISO 13007 performance classification C2ES2.

Using a 12 mm notched trowel spread out enough adhesive that the cobblestones or pavers can be laid into the adhesive while it still retains a good wet tack.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT A GOOD WET TACK IS MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.

When a cobblestone or paver is placed next to its neighbour, ensure there is a small amount of adhesive along the side (up about a third of the height from the bottom), this in turn adhering it to its neighbour.

100% adhesive bedding is very important with no voids, or notch trowel lines evident.

Notes: Cobblestones or pavers can be laid as soon as the concrete can be walked on. It can be green or uncured and does not require curing for 28 days.
Adhesive should be thoroughly mixed with a drill and suitable mechanical mixing attachment.

Cure time:
24 - 48 hours light foot traffic
7 days light vehicles
7 - 14 days heavy vehicles

Allow longer cure times for cooler (winter) or humid weather (+ 70%).

Note:
Flexco (NZ) Ltd can only give recommendations on the use of its adhesive, and cannot control its use by tradesmen. Flexco (NZ) Ltd is not responsible for engineering, and specific or architectural design and specification

Flexco (NZ) LTD will not be responsible for adhesive washout due to water ingress from rain or sprinklers prior to cure of the adhesive.

It is the subcontractors responsibility to ensure there has been sufficient cure time of the adhesive allowed prior to traffic, and that all precautions are taken to avoid ingress of water from rain etc during the cure phase.
